ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – The bracket for the inaugural Myrtle Beach Invitational was announced on Wednesday, and the UCF men’s basketball team will open up the tournament against Cal State Fullerton.
The eight-team tournament gets started on Thursday, Nov. 15 and the Knights’ opener against the Titans will be the second contest of the day. It’s scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. tip on ESPN3.
In Friday’s second day of action, UCF will take on either Wake Forest or Saint Joseph’s. Saturday will be an off day before Sunday’s final day of competition, which includes the championship game.
The other side of the bracket includes West Virginia, Western Kentucky, Valparaiso and Monmouth.
The Knights have never met Cal State Fullerton, Wake Forest or Saint Joseph’s on the hardwood, but has a history with three teams on the opposite side of the bracket.
UCF played West Virginia last season for the first time in the AdvoCare Invitational, has matched up with Valparaiso five times, most recently in 2013, and has taken on Western Kentucky three times, but not since 2005.
The Knights’ announced non-conference schedule also includes home games against Alabama on Nov. 29 and Illinois State on Dec. 21. The entire UCF schedule will be released at a later date.
